MORE INFORMATION

What are Willow Cuttings?

Willow cuttings, also known as willow sticks or wands and are a simple and effective way to propagate willow plants.

How to plant?

Insert a 30cm cutting into your prepared ground, ensuring that the buds are facing upwards, and leaving about 10 cm above the surface.

How to grow?

Choose an open, low lying,  south facing site if possible.  Willow cuttings grow best in a weed-free soil or with some kind of weed suppressant.

Willow varieties?

There are many types of willow within the Salix species, including Salix purpurea, Salix triandra and Salix viminalis. Our willows are from these three categories.

When to plant ?

The ideal time to plant is in the winter, after the leaf have fallen in late autumn and  before bud burst in early spring.  For us T

this is usually between early December and late February or early March.
