Saturday 1st February 2025 10am - 4pm This is a day long course in willow growing for people who are interested in establishing and maintaining their own willow bed for basket making, fencing and sculpture. The day will be both theory and practise based, starting with a presentation by Jenny Crisp, a professional willow grower and basket maker with 40 years of experience. The presentation will cover how to establishing and maintain a willow bed from planting through to harvest, with ample time for a Q and A discussion at the end. We’ll provide a 2 course homemade lunch and an optional mulled tipple from the cider mill. In the afternoon we’ll wrap up warm and head down to the willow beds for some hands on experience and practical advice on harvesting and processing your willow crop. At the end of the day there will be an option to take home 50 cuttings of your choice. We will also email you a PDF of the presentation to keep. What to bring; Tools and refreshments will be available but please bring layers for warmth and waterproof outdoor wear to include wellies, hats and work gloves.
