We're a mother-daughter partnership with a shared passion for combining traditional basket making and willow growing with innovative and unique design.
Jenny Crisp (the mother) has been a basketmaker and willow
grower for nearly 40 years and brings a wealth of experience having devoted her career to mastering traditional willow weaving skills and techniques. Issy Wilkes (the daughter) on the other hand is trained in design for theatre, festivals, and events, bringing a unique and imaginative approach to each project.
Together we’ve created Willow with Roots, a company steeped in heritage, devoted to high-quality crafts(wo)manship and unabashedly pushing the boundaries of what willow can do.
COMMISSIONS
We love to collaborate with designers and private clients on bespoke projects, working to a brief from concept to completion.
BASKETMAKING
We work individually and together to make our signature baskets. These objects are available for purchase via our online shop.
WILLOW GROWING
We take great joy in growing most of our own willow. We sell cuttings and excess bundles seasonally via our online shop.
TEACHING
Jenny has almost 40 years experience of teaching basketmaking, she teaches throughout the year one to one & one to two.
